Dr. C. Thomas Dow
Co-Founder and Managing Director
C. Thomas Dow, MD is an ophthalmologist and physician‑researcher; having a background in medical microbiology, his research work explores the potential role of Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis (MAP) in human autoimmune and inflammatory disease. A long‑time senior partner at the Chippewa Valley Eye Clinic and former volunteer faculty member at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Dr. Dow has published and lectured on MAP as a possible environmental driver of Crohn’s disease, Type 1 diabetes, and thyroid autoimmunity. His research emphasizes microbial pathogenesis, host–pathogen interactions, and translational implications for chronic disease.
Dr. Robert Edward Click, 1937 - 2023

Bob began his college education at Washington State University, graduating with a degree in Chemistry in 1960, followed by a Ph.D in Biochemistry in 1964 from UC-Berkeley. He performed research in immunogenetics as a post-doctorate fellow at both Columbia University and the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center before accepting a position at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. The last 20 years of Bob's life were dedicated to the private research, development and application of the Dietzia bacterium for treatment of animals, including humans, suffering from Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
Michael T. Collins, DVM, PhD, DACVM
Scientific Advisor
Michael T. Collins, DVM, PhD, DACVM is Professor Emeritus in the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a leading authority on Johne’s disease and Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis (MAP) in ruminants. A board‑certified veterinary microbiologist, Dr. Collins built and directed one of the foremost diagnostic and research programs for MAP infection, helping to define best practices for herd testing, control, and eradication worldwide. His work has guided veterinarians, producers, and regulators in understanding MAP epidemiology, improving diagnostic accuracy, and reducing the burden of chronic enteric disease in dairy and beef cattle.
Daniel V. Szemis
Director, Finance and Information Technology
Daniel V. Szemis is the Founder and President of the Early Learning Opportunity Group, a nonprofit organization established in 2020 to support children from under‑resourced families by strengthening early‑stage learning environments. Before launching the organization, he spent 32 years in investment management, serving as an analyst and portfolio manager at Prudential Insurance Company, Merrill Lynch, and Chilton Investment Company. Dan earned a degree in Marketing Management from Virginia Tech, obtained his MBA from Rutgers Graduate School of Management, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
